Anti-E alpha antibody

ERalpha is a protein encoded by the ESR1 gene which is approximately 66, 2 kDa. ERalpha is localised to the nucleus, cytoplasm and cell membrane. It is involved in the prolactin signalling pathway, gene expression, metabolism of proteins and the nuclear receptor transcription pathway. It is a nuclear oestrogen receptor that is involved in the regulation of eukaryotic gene expression and affects cellular proliferation and differentiation in target tissues. Oestrogen controls many cellular processes including growth, differentiation and function of the reproductive system. Oestrogen is also responsible for the growth and maintenance of the skeleton and the normal function of the cardiovascular and nervous systems. ERalpha is widely expressed with isoform 3 not expressed in the pituitary gland. Mutations in the ESR1 gene may result in oestrogen resistance. STJ92999 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of ERalpha protein.
