Genway ID:
GWB-C2A11E
Clone:
SP11
Isotype:
IgG
Immunogen:
A synthetic peptide of human Synaptophysin.
Specificity:
This antibody recognizes a protein of 38kDa identified as synaptophysin. It labels normal neuroendocrine cells of human adrenal medulla carotid body skin pituitary gland thyroid lung pancreas gastrointestinal mucosa Paneth?s cells in the gastrointestinal tract and of gastric parietal cells. Neurons in the brain spinal cord and retina are also labeled. In combination with anti-chromogranin A and anti-NSE Ab to synaptophysin is very useful in the identification of normal neuroendocrine cells and neuroendocrine neoplasms. This antibody crossreacts with Human.
Positive Control:
Pancreas
Target:
Synaptophysin
Localization:
Cytoplasmic/Cell membrane
Application Note:
We suggest an incubation period of 30 minutes at room temperature. However depending upon the fixation conditions and the staining system employed optimal incubation should be determined by the user. Formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections require high temperature antigen unmasking with 10 mM citrate buffer pH 6. 0 prior to immunostaining. Cellular
Localization:
Cytoplasmic/Cell membrane
Function:
Possibly involved in structural functions as organizing other membrane components or in targeting the vesicles to the plasma membrane.
Subunit:
Homohexamer or homotetramer.
Subcellular Location:
Cytoplasmic vesicle secretory vesicle synaptic vesicle membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Cell junction synapse synaptosome.
Tissue Specificity:
Characteristic of a type of small (30-80 nm) neurosecretory vesicles including presynaptic vesicles but also vesicles of various neuroendocrine cells of both neuronal and epithelial phenotype.
Domain:
The calcium-binding activity is thought to be localized in the cytoplasmic tail of the protein.
Ptm:
Ubiquitinated; mediated by SIAH1 or SIAH2 and leading to its subsequent proteasomal degradation (By similarity).
Similarity:
Belongs to the synaptophysin/synaptobrevin family.
Similarity:
Contains 1 MARVEL domain.
