Genway ID:
GWB-A007B4
Isotype:
IgM
Clone:
NK-1
Characterization:
To insure lot to lot consistency each batch of product is tested by flow cytometry to conform to characteristics of a standard reference reagent.
Specificity:
Human CD57CD57 represents a 100 kDa oligosaccharide antigenic determinant present on a variety of polypeptides lipids and chondroitan sulfate proteoglycans. It is expressed on 7-35% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes including subsets of NK cells and CD8+ T lymphocytes. The function of CD57 is unknown. ^1-6
Working Dilution:
Flow Cytometry: 10 uL/10^6 cells
Warning:
Reagents contain sodium azide which is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin eyes or clothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs wash with copious amounts of water. If ingested or inhaled contact a physician immediately. Sodium azide yields toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide-containing compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing.
Function:
Involved in the biosynthesis of L2/HNK-1 carbohydrate epitope on glycoproteins. Can also play a role in glycosaminoglycan biosynthesis. Substrates include asialo-orosomucoid (ASOR) asialo-fetuin and asialo-neural cell adhesion molecule. Requires sphingomyelin for activity: stearoyl-sphingomyelin was the most effective followed by palmitoyl-sphingomyelin and lignoceroyl-sphingomyelin. Activity was demonstrated only for sphingomyelin with a saturated fatty acid and not for that with an unsaturated fatty acid regardless of the length of the acyl group (By similarity).
Catalytic Activity:
UDP-glucuronate + 3-beta-D-galactosyl-4-beta-D-galactosyl-O-beta-D-xylosylprotein = UDP + 3-beta-D-glucuronosyl-3-beta-D-galactosyl-4-beta-D-galactosyl-O-beta-D-xylosylprotein. Cofactor: Manganese.
Pathway:
Protein modification; protein glycosylation.
Subunit:
Homodimer (Potential).
Subcellular Location:
Golgi apparatus membrane; Single-pass type II membrane protein.
Tissue Specificity:
Mainly expressed in the brain.
Similarity:
Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 43 family. Knapp W. B. Dorken W. R. GIlks E. P. Rieber R. E. Schmidt H. Stein A. E. G. K. Von dem Borne eds. 1989.
