Description	Human Apolipoprotein AII (APOA2) is one of a family of evolutionarily related proteins which play a crucial role in lipid transport and metabolism. The serum levels of Human APOA2 have been shown to be inversely correlated to the incidence of coronary heart disease and its expression to be limited to the liver and intestine. APOA2 is the second most abundant protein of the high density lipoprotein particles. The protein is found in plasma as a monomer, homodimer, or heterodimer with apolipoprotein D. Defects in this gene may result in APOA2 deficiency or hypercholesterolemia.
