Galectin-1/LGALS1, a lectin binding beta-galactoside and complex carbohydrates, regulates apoptosis, proliferation, and differentiation. It inhibits CD45 phosphatase activity, hindering Lyn kinase dephosphorylation, and induces T-cell apoptosis. As a homodimer, it interacts with CD2, CD3, CD4, CD6, CD7, CD43, ALCAM, CD45, LGALS3BP, laminin, SUSD2, and engages TMED10 for cytoplasmic translocation to the endoplasmic reticulum-Golgi intermediate compartment (ERGIC), facilitating secretion.
