Description	Galectin-1 (Gal-1), a member of the ?-galactoside-binding animal lectin family, has a wide range of biological activities, which makes it an attractive target for medical applications. Gal-1 is ubiquitously but differentially expressed in normal and pathological animal tissues, and a variety of biological activities, including modulation of innate and adaptive immune responses, malignant progression of tumor cells, etc.
