Localization:	Cytoplasmic FSH is a pituitary hormone involved in the maturation of ovarian follicles and estrogen secretion in females. In the pituitary gland FSH is produced by gonadotrophes. In males FSH stimulates the secretion of testosterone.
Subunit:	Heterodimer of a common alpha chain and a unique beta chain which confers biological specificity to thyrotropin lutropin follitropin and gonadotropin.
Subcellular Location:	Secreted.
Similarity:	Belongs to the glycoprotein hormones subunit alpha family.
